Mom's performance website--relaunched! "Performing Medieval Narrative Today: A Video Showcase"

Dear Fam, Here is the announcement of the website that Marilyn Lawrence and I have just relaunched. Love to all! Mom/Timmie Dear Colleagues and Friends, We are happy to announce the launching of our revised and expanded website, "Performing Medieval Narrative Today: A Video Showcase" - http://wilde.its.nyu.edu/mednar/ In spring 2004, we established a pilot version of this website (under a different URL). We have now added a great deal of new material to the site. It currently contains 120 clips, from such genres as allegory, epic, fable, fabliau, hagiography, lai, romance, and others, with scenes from Boiardo, Chretien de Troyes, Dante, Guillaume de Lorris, Jacobus de Voragine, Marie de France, Wolfram von Eschenbach, and more (Chaucer will soon join the list). Many major works of medieval literature are included, such as *Aucassin et Nicolette*, *Beowulf*, *Silence*, *Sir Gawain and the Green Knight*, *Sir Orfeo*--along with Indian *Jataka*, Hebrew *Tahkemoni*, Karakalpak epic, and numerous others. The website covers many countries and language areas; some scenes are performed in the original language, others in modern English. Performers include talented students, and also professionals such as Benjamin Bagby, Katarina Livljanic, Paola Panaro, Linda Marie Zaerr--and soon, Dolores Hydock. The site has also been corrected and updated in a variety of ways, and offers a performance bibliography and videography, as well as many teaching tips. We invite you to visit this medieval narrative website, which will continue to grow in size and range. We hope you will explore it (we are told it is quite addictive), use it as a resource in your teaching and scholarly work, and draw it to the attention of your students and colleagues.
